Materials and Construction
Our furniture is made using mostly reclaimed materials, however new components and materials are used when necessary or when requested.
Custom Seats are available
Perhaps the most important part of our creations is the seat we use. We will always try to offer the exact seat you ask for. This may be a reclaimed car seat, a brand new dealer supplied seat or even a stylish custom seat. For example you may decide that you'd like a modern rally style sports seat, as seen in the dugouts of many of the Premier League's largest football clubs. Leather seats remain popular but we can just as easily create a stunning piece from a fabric trimmed seat. Prices of course will vary, with an Aston Martin seat usually costing more than one from a Vauxhall. Enquire today for more details.
Tube clamps are an option.
Once selected the seat can be matched to a frame. We are continually designing new frame styles and will be happy to create a frame just for you. If you have been inspired by a particular design we will turn your idea into a unique piece, accurately crafted to meet your specification. The frame will usually be made from mild steel tubing, which can of course be plated (e.g. chrome, copper, nickel, galvanised), powder coated, enamelled, lacquered, painted or treated to create various types of attractive finish. If required, other metals, such as aluminium or stainless steel can be used, and these will normally be new materials.
We use a number of techniques when constructing our furniture frames. The frame may be welded, bolted or make use of complimentary clamps - or a combination of those techniques. Once again, the final choice is yours.
Trim
When taken from their original vehicle many seats have uneven bases or spaces where perhaps a seatbelt or handle was mounted. We will design custom 'trim panels' using materials that you choose - e.g. spun aluminium, stainless steel or chequer plate. Most of these are reclaimed industrial materials.
Armrests can be fabricated to suit your personal tastes using a variety of materials. Here wood remains a popular choice and can be stained to create many beautiful effects.
As with many of our other materials, all the wood we use has a green background. We have used specially seasoned wood for various projects. This wood has been reclaimed and is well aged, ensuring that it will not shrink, swell or warp. Whenever possible we will ensure that any other timber to be used is sourced from responsibly managed sustainable forests. Wood can be stained to suit most tastes, but also can be painted if required prior to fitting. We can also produce cushioned armrests upholstered to compliment the seat with either leather or a fabric.
